A Symmetrical Week

After a somewhat strange start to the week, with most students missing, the week passed by quickly and smoothly with everyone tired and in need of a relaxing weekend!

Unit of Inquiry

As we rolled into April this week, Preschool also completed their fourth Unit of Inquiry and were introduced to their new one today. A lot of excitement was felt as we began looking at living things and discussing what makes things living...growing, drinking water, breathing and of course eating.

Preschool's currently starting the new unit on the:

Transdisciplinary Theme: How the world works

Central Idea:  All living things go through a process of change.

Lines of Inquiry:

● Patterns of growth Stages of a life cycle

● Factors that influence life cycles

● Similarities and differences between various life cycles

Maths

Maths was a lot of fun as Preschoolers became more confident with the meaning of symmetry. They did a great deal of inquiring about what symmetry is all about and enjoyed using all sorts of different techniques to master a difficult concept!

Language

It was another magical week in the Preschool classroom with Preschool as we read different Fairy Tales focussing on different elements of stories. Another Poem has been added to their repertoire of poems and songs.

Cooking

I was so happy with how principled Preschoolers proved to be as they showed off their cooking and cleaning up skills.

Reminders:

  • Please remember to send in library books on Monday.
  • For Show&Tell as we are starting our new unit, I'd like students to bring in three pictures: one baby, one as a toddler and one of them now. This will complement our work on life-cycles.
  • We are excited to welcome another new student and his family to the class on Monday.
  • Please fill out the Sleepover Consent Form and send it back to school by Friday, April 8th. I hope that everyone will be able to attend, it'll definitely be a lot of fun.
  • On Monday, April 11th, Preschool will be going on a trip to Kobe Oji Zoo. I will be sending a letter home next week.
